What is a home energy audit?

A home energy audit is the first step to assess how much energy your home consumes and to evaluate what measures you can take to make your home more energy efficient.

An audit will show you problems that may, when corrected, make your home more comfortable and save you significant amounts of money over time. During the audit, we can pinpoint where your house is losing energy as well as determine the efficiency of your home’s heating and cooling systems.

Why get an audit?

The Austin City Council has approved and implemented the Energy Conservation Audit and Disclosure (ECAD) ordinance to improve the energy efficiency of Austin homes and buildings that receive electricity from Austin Energy.

Improving energy efficiency can increase comfort and help reduce electricity bills for renters and owners of homes, multifamily properties, and commercial buildings. The ordinance also helps meet one of the goals of the Austin Climate Protection Plan—offsetting 700 megawatts of peak energy demand by 2020 to reduce Austin’s carbon footprint.

You can go HERE for more information on ECAD ordinance and to determine if your home requires an audit by a BPI certified Building Analyst, then give us a call at 512.775.7331.

“I’d put my money on the sun and solar energy. What a source of power! I hope we don’t have to wait ’til oil and coal run out before we tackle that.” ~ Thomas Edison (1847–1931)
